In court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, retired soccer star Abby Wambach admitted to police during her arrest on a drunk driving charge that she used cocaine and marijuana 10 years ago after joining the women's national team but hasn't since she was age 25.

Wambach, 35, was arrested at 2:02 a.m. local time on Sunday and charged with misdemeanor DUI after running a red light. Police reportedly administered a field sobriety test that Wambach failed and she was taken to a local jail.

Wambach claims that the arrest came after she had dinner at a friend's house. In an apology posted on Facebook later Sunday, she said "I have always demanded excellence from myself. I have let myself and others down."

Despite admitting guilt and taking responsibility for her actions earlier this week after being arrested, Wambach entered a not guilty plea on Tuesday at the Multnomah County Courthouse in Portland, according to TMZ Sports.

Wambach is due back in court at the end of the month to continue her fight against the charges.
